Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop GLPH271 and add FILM240 or another elective within the arts and science faculty. Due to family issues, I did not receive my money to pay for tuition until past the deadline, which then caused me to have troubles moving my courses around. I realized that I had to drop a course, but other courses were full which is why I enrolled in GLPH271. I have since found out that GLPH271 does not count toward my degree and will prohibit me from being able to graduate at the end of this semester. It is really important to me that I am on track to graduate. I care a lot about my education and truly hope that this does not stop me from being able to finish my last semester off strongly.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My plan is to add an additional arts and science elective to my courses so that I am able to graduate with my class on schedule. I have done very well with my courses and organization thus far, and I hope that this situation does not prohibit me from graduating.

Hi Morgan,
I hope you??re doing well.
Students may only receive credit for 6.0 units taken outside of Arts and science. You have already received credit for COMM 200 and COMM 251, so cannot also receive credit for GLPH 271 which is a Faculty of Health Sciences course.
When you applied to graduate, you weren??t enrolled in GLPH 271. When you did add it, you were still enrolled in IDIS 280 and were still eligible to graduate even without GLPH 271 counting. Now that you have dropped IDIS 280, you no longer have enough courses to graduate. You can still petition to add a course late ?? see information here under First Level: Petition to the Associate Dean (https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/undergraduate/student-services/academic-petitions-and-appeals
