Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Academic),

My name is Serena Rubino. I am a first-year student. I am writing to you in hopes of picking up another course for this winter term. I was on the waitlist for GNDS 120 but got kicked off of it. I was trying to make up around 6.0 credits due to the fact that I dropped MATH 121. I am aware that GNDS 120 is a 3.0 credit course, but I am planning on taking a summer course to make up for the other half of the 6.0 credits.

I was not doing well in calculus and if I continued in it I would have failed. This mark would have also affected my GPA greatly. After researching GNDS 120 I??ve come to realize that I am very interested in what this course entails and I believe I will excel given the opportunity to participate in the course.

When accessing this course on my SOLUS account I do see that there is still a seat open in the class. I do not understand why I was not accepted into the class and kicked off the waitlist.

I do not want to fall behind in credits, since it might put me in a bad position in the coming years. I want to stay on track and I believe that picking up this course will help with that.

Sincerely,
Serena Rubino

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: My academic plan is to make sure I do well in all my course, which is why I dropped MATH 121 and wanted to pick up this other course. My goal is to major in biology psychology and I think by taking this course it will help provide me with a well-rounded understanding of current issues happening in the world and apply it to future job opportunities. This course is not very content heavy, from what I have read and what people who have taken the course told me, so it will not jeopardize my other grades.
