Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am in need of this course change as it is the best thing for my academic future and academic plan for the rest of my studies at Queen's University. I am pursuing a degree in Political Science, and I took PHIL 204 as an elective. I need to switch from that class into International Political Economy (POLS 262), as the Philosophy course is too abstract for me to understand and pursue, and the Political economy course will better prepare me for 3rd year political science classes that I require to receive my degree. My time is better spent studying and taking courses that are relevant to my program , as opposed to trying to grasp advanced philosophy courses like 204. I struggle immensely with math and stats is already becoming my most difficult course this year, and my GPA cannot afford for me to struggle through a class that is not even related to my field of study that i wish to pursue for the next 2.5+ years. I am also looking to do international economic studies on exchange next school year, and I believe it is in my best interest to take this course in preparation for those studies. I have been going through the course content as I have been hoping to switch, and i am ready to join the course up to date on the material due to this step. This course switch will allow me to be better prepared for an expensive exchange experience and will allow me to focus more completely on my mandatory stats course that is proving to be my most difficult course this semester.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: This course fits much better with my academic plan, as it afford me another POLS credit on my transcript and will prepare me for more advanced political studies courses that I am going to encounter in the coming years. The philosophy course requires background in philosophical analysis, and will result in a negative effect on my academic plan/gpa.

Documentation

Professional Letter Detail: There is no documentation available for my reasoning, I simply need to change into this course as it is more geared towards my degree and it is the best course of action for my degree/gpa.
