Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Greetings Art-Sci Faculty,
My name is Matthew Yuen, and I am currently enrolled in the Art-Sci faculty. During the application period to enroll in winter classes, I originally thought that the deadline to add courses was the first of February. I completely take full responsibility for the lack of knowledge to determine when the proper date for the deadline took place. I received the email notifying students that the last day to add or drop courses, is the deadline date of January 20th. During this time, A family member was extremely ill and was unaware of how much time they had left, resulting in my departure from Kingston to Alberta. Unfortunately, two days after my visitation, my family member passed. During this time, I had no access to my laptop or other device permitting me to enroll in the course. When I returned on Tuesday the 24th, I had attempted to enroll in the Bio 103 course, section 28, with lectures on Wednesdays from 12:30 pm ?? 1:30 pm, and Fridays from 11:30 am ?? 12:30 pm, with tutorial dates on Thursdays from 8:30 am ?? 10:00 am in the BIOSCI complex in room 2326. This is when I realized the deadline date has passed. I had attempted contact with academic advisors, yet there were no meetings available. I have attempted to contact Queen??s service via phone, nevertheless, was unsuccessful until previously when I obtained the knowledge of the process required to submit a petition of appeal. Furthermore, regarding Bio 111, I was originally waitlisted for the course at the start of the semester. I am now currently first and have attended each lecture during this time. I have spoken to the professor about my circumstance, and she has advised me to apply for the petition to speed up the process. This circumstance integrates itself with the dropping of DEVS 102. My original plan was to drop the DEVS course if able to enroll in the Bio 111 course. Once again, I take full responsibility for the lack of knowledge on the proper deadline date and appreciate your consideration for enrollment in the course.
Kind regards,
Matthew Yuen

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My current course load results in an appropriate amount of spare time. I am currently up to date with my workload within my current courses, alongside no late assignments. Furthermore, as stated above, I have attended each lecture and completed every assignment in the BIO 111 course. This will provide me with the time necessary to fully dedicate myself to make up the course curriculum I have missed in the early weeks.
