Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: My name is Gracey Hammel, I am a student at Queen??s university who previously had to drop out of my fall term courses due to a sudden and severe onset of a mental health crisis. I appealed this prior to the deadline, and was therefore granted my request..

As stated in my previous appeal, I was unable to attend any of my classes, however due to my course load changing the funding that I would have normally received via OSAP has no longer been granted. I am asking for consideration financially due to these extenuating circumstances, as I was not enrolled in any courses in my fall semester and did not in any way benefit from my registration as a student at Queen??s University and would like to appeal any charges related to that semester.

I understand entirely that this is a large ask and a strange situation to be appealing for, however due to these circumstances I am just receiving this news about funding as of this morning and am truly concerned that I cannot afford charges for a semester in which I was not enrolled in. At this point I am considering entirely dropping out of this academic year if this would alleviate the financial difficulties due to recalculated funding.

I am truly uncertain of what to do next, and am hoping to reach a proper conclusion with your help. I am happy to attach a copy of my previous appeal if viewing is needed.
