Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean (Academic) of the Faculty of Arts and Science,
I am writing to request to drop the course PHYS480 from Fall 2022 due to extenuating circumstances (it is currently an IN grade).
I have been experiencing difficulties with my health since early September, 2022. The symptoms I have been experiencing (which include extreme fatigue, nausea/vomiting, difficulty concentrating, feeling faint, and more) have made it extremely difficult to complete coursework. I was not able to stay awake long enough to get much done and other symptoms impeded my ability to work, affecting my ability to complete and submit assignments and attend classes (with assessments). I believe it is in part due to a flare up of a condition for which I am registered with QSAS.
I was not able to handle a full course load last semester due to the health difficulties and was not able to complete this course. In particular, the demands of the course exceed my capacity. I have discussed with my professor, and we concluded that this was the best course of action. He is in full support of this decision. I am currently taking a reduced course load and seeking medical/mental health care to address the issue.
Sincerely,
Angela Chen
