- The Associate Dean's decision did not follow the rules of procedural fairness. A breach of procedural fairness includes such things as the Associate Dean failed to:
- Make a reasonable decision in your appeal. A “reasonable” decision is one that is based on evidence, thought out and supported by facts and logical inferences from the facts. To be reasonable, the decision must contain adequate reasons for the conclusions.
Appeal Letter
Appeal Letter: Dear Board of Studies,
I am Rongyu Zheng (20154949), on Feb 17th, I submitted an appeal letter of iLop (international letter of permission) to the international program office for 3 additional units to study the online course in the University of New Brunswick of my winter term. And I received a reply from the Associate Dean today (I have added the reply email to the attachment). The reason for my request is that my final project for Film460 required me to travel between Kingston and Montreal for filming the video. It is true that there is no mandatory requirement to leave Kingston for Film460 final project, but the characters and locations for my video are in Montreal where I can finalize the shoot. This film is very important to me because I am currently on a trial period with Sunrise Education, a Chinese educational organization, which will conduct an out-of-school educational program in Canada this year. I was responsible for filming and documenting the event and promoting it afterward. In addition to that, my Film460's final video and my performance in Montreal would play a decisive role in my eventual placement with the company. Since the company wants me to start as soon as possible in China in May 2023 and has provided proof of pre-acceptance (I have added it in the attachment). So I hope to graduate on time in 2023 Spring. This iLop application is very important to me, so I sincerely hope that the board of studies can reconsider my appeal and agree to it, which will help me a lot.
