Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean

I suffered viral myocarditis early October last year, the condition is quite severe so i have to undergo surgery and been hospitalized for almost two months under recovery. I already submitted my academic consideration request 1 December and it is been verified by faculty of arts and science academic consideration team for the period of 7 October to 7 December. I contacted Professor Burcu and my assigned TA as soon as i begin to feel better for the arrangement of missed works/assignments but wasn't getting any respond or been given instructions on how to do so. Given the fact that majority portion of the graded course work were assigned during my absence i ended up getting an 'F' grade. I reached Professor Burcu again later on attempting to complete remaining assignments but was told that no assignments can be accepted after the term ends. However, Professor Burcu said she is willing to support my appeal to drop the course retroactively without academic penalty. So, i'm appealing to drop GNDS 125 without academic penalty and in ideal cases without financial penalty as well since the circumstances went beyond my control and i have been constantly working to resolve the issue.

Sincerely,
Jianxiao
