Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,
I had not received almost any grades for this class prior to the last date to drop courses. Now I have received a few, including a heavily weighted midterm that did not go well, and it seems near-impossible to achieve as highly as I usually would.
I most likely did so poorly because I neglected my studies after mental health issues post the death of a close friend of mine over the New Year's break. When I was doing better in February, I attempted to cram for my classes closer to midterms, and I managed decently for 4 of the classes but unfortunately not for this class.
I am hoping for a second chance. The grade I have now does not represent my academic standard and I know I can do better. I still need this course for my degree and plan on re-enrolling for the summer course to ameliorate my grade.
