Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: The reason for my petition letter is to state an unusual academic event.

As an online student, I have chosen this path due to the flexibility that the program allows for the students and as a full-time worker, I no longer feel the flexibility while attending STAM 200. Each week requires an online mandatory class with optional times that are set in stone (1 Morning class and 2 Evening classes). Should I not attend the class, my grade suffers.

I work 10-12 hour days, 5-6 days a week, I am also in another program that has scheduled classes, however, unlike this course, that was clearly highlighted going into that program. For the past month, I have been making adjustments to allow for my attendance within these classes (ex. Waking up for early class, running both online classes at night, etc.), however, I have run out of room for adjustments. With work starting again, I can no longer attend the STAM200 class, as I am available for none of the options presented.

With that being said, STAM 200 is requiring mandatory lessons from someone who is a part of this program with the understanding that the schedules are flexible and not fixed like the in-person counterpart. I wish to drop this course so that I can focus on completing my education within my core Psychology course and my other program while working to pay my way through school.
