Petition Letter: To whom this may concern,
I am looking to drop this course, ENGL 306 because of extenuating circumstances that are beyond my control that have affected my academic success this year. I originally tried to drop this course just before the March 5th deadline to lighten my workload to be able to be more successful in other courses that this situation has also affected. The above description on the queen's website describes what I'm dealing with as a psychological challenge. I have been getting outside help for my circumstance but the waitlist for treatment has made it that much more difficult to deal with this issue and in turn, I haven't been able to manage it in tandem with my workload. My doctor has referred me to a sleep clinic to conclude a diagnosis, but the Limestone City Sleep Lab, which I was referred to in January has a 3-6 month wait list. Due to this wait time other old psychological challenges that I have dealt with and have been able to manage have become an issue again. In turn, I've been having trouble bringing myself to class, not because I don't want to attend class, but because I mentally cannot bring myself to be there. Not being able to manage my circadian rhythm has made being an organized student that much harder, and I strive to put the best possible work forward. I've been able to manage my work outside of the classroom for the most part but lightening my load would help me finish the year out strong in a manageable fashion while dealing with my circumstance. I was beyond excited about these classes, especially this one this year but the circumstance beyond my control has made it a dire task.
