Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean,
I am writing this letter requesting a late drop of my two courses this winter semester of 2023, CISC 235 and CISC 223. This is my third time attempting both courses and thus, my last if I do not late drop them. Without these core courses, I can not proceed with my degree. I have been experiencing several issues related to mental and physical health for the past year and they have been out of my control. I late dropped these same two courses last semester (fall 2022) for the same reasons. I had external support with student wellness in line to help me be ready for this current semester. But due to several cancellations and unfortunate negative experiences with student wellness, I was not able to receive any support until late March of this year. By this point it was already too late to try and save my grade, that??s why I reached out to my counselor, Pamela Hall, for help once again. I tried salvaging my grade as much as possible and tried reducing my course load by dropping other courses before the deadline but none of my efforts worked out. However, I have finally received the aid I need and am working towards getting back on track academically and health-wise. I have regular appointments with my counselor and am receiving occupational therapy via student wellness soon, alongside medications. I believe I will be back at a good academic mindset by fall and wish to reattempt these two courses and continue with my degree. I was and am passionate about my degree and career. I was a dean??s honor list student in my first year at Queen??s and wish to reach the same level again if given the opportunity. Please consider my request to late drop these two courses.
Regards,
Vansh Panwar
