Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am petitioning to drop the courses I am currently enrolled in due to aggravated struggles with mental illness including anxiety and depression. I have been experiencing an extreme lack of focus and motivation which has led to me falling behind in my coursework. I had already dropped two courses prior to the deadline in the hopes that a lighter schedule would alleviate my dilemma but it has not. I have also had to step away from an internship opportunity as a result of this issue. Struggles with anxiety, and difficulty eating as a result, have made it difficult for me to make it to my classes, including those in which attendance is integral. Prior to this semester I had maintained a good GPA but as of late I have not been able to focus on my assignments. I am currently seeking professional aid to treat this issue but at this time I feel that I am unable to pay my studies the attention they require. Dropping these courses would allow for me to better focus on my mental health and later continue my studies in a more suitable state of mind.
