Petition Letter

Petition Letter: My extenuating circumstance included psychological challenges and personal issues. Ever since February 2023, I had a few things happen in my life that caused me to face mental challenges. From February to April I was having to return home multiple times a week as school was very overwhelming for me with the events that were occurring in my life at this point in time. Due to this, I was unable to attend many classes, and ultimately suffered in nearly all my courses. I made the decision to drop a course right before the deadline to relieve my course load. Fast forward to right now, I do not think only dropping that one course was enough for me as managing 4 courses while dealing with my struggles was still overwhelming and difficult. I was convinced I could make it through this semester, however I was sadly mistaken. For this course I am requesting to drop, I was expected to write a 30-40 page report due at the end of the year that would accumulate to 100% of my mark. My teacher has informed me that the rough draft I submitted did not meet the minimum standards to pass this course. Furthermore, she stated I will not be able to hand in any work that would be passable due to my absences in class and missing important information given. With that being said, since attending my classes was fully out of my control this semester due to my constant travelling home and struggles, I am now requesting to drop this one course. The struggles I am facing are mental and out of my control, and I do wish to seek professional help soon but have not yet done that at this point. The reason being, is I have not had the strength to get professional help nor felt like I could make time for it with all that is happening in addition to school. Additionally I was dealing with family issues that I would like to keep disclosed but were very impactful. Everything was out of my control and I am hoping not to pay for it academically. I hope that this request will be accepted as I cannot afford to fail this course, as it would set me back a tremendous amount more then my already setbacks. After all, I am trying my best to just make it to summer. I am confident this will not affect my future academics such as my current exam schedule and next school year.
Thank you
Christian Nadra
