Petition Letter: I am writing to request permission to drop CISC 121 after the deadline. I believe that the extenuating circumstances that I have experienced this semester have had a significant impact on my ability to successfully complete this course.
During this semester, I have faced several personal challenges that have affected my mental well-being and academic performance. Specifically, I struggled with the coursework in CISC 121, and my performance in the class was not reflective of my abilities as a student(I can prove this with my other grades). I understand that my academic record is a reflection of my abilities and effort, and I am worried that the grade I will receive in this course will not accurately represent my skills or potential.
Although I did not have formal documentation of therapy sessions, I did take steps to address my mental health issues by seeking support from friends and family, and actively working to implement self-care routines to manage my stress levels. However, despite these efforts, I still struggled in this course specifically.
I understand that there are strict policies governing course drops. However, I respectfully request that you consider my extenuating circumstances and the impact they have had on my academic performance.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
Sincerely,
Catherine Zou
