Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to petition for assistance in dropping MATH 121 from my current academic schedule. As a first-year student at Queens, I have been facing some extenuating circumstances that have significantly impacted my academic performance during the last semester.
To provide a brief background, I was granted an appeal for homesickness during the last term on a course, which was a result of the challenges of adjusting to a new environment as an international student. Additionally, during the second semester, I experienced a traumatic and toxic break-up that led me to seek counselling services at Queens to cope. As a result, I was unable to concentrate on my academic studies, and my performance in MATH 121 suffered.
To provide some context, I was granted academic consideration for all my courses due to that and this affected my performance during this semester. This assistance helped me improve my grades in other subjects. However, for MATH 121, it was too late to recover from the setbacks I faced.
Despite these setbacks, I am determined to continue my academic journey and achieve my academic goals. As such, I plan to retake MATH 121 in the summer semester to improve my GPA and ensure academic success. I am confident that I can excel in this course, given my previous academic performance before my personal life was affected.
I will attach relevant documentation, including my appeal for homesickness and documentation of my counselling sessions at Queens, which demonstrates the extenuating circumstances that I have faced. I would be grateful if you could take these factors into account while considering my petition to drop MATH 121 from my current academic schedule.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if you require any further information.
