Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing to you today to express my deep concerns about the grade I received in Math 120. As you are aware, I received a D in this course, which I believe is not a true reflection of my abilities or my performance during the semester. I am a hardworking and dedicated student, and I had high hopes for my performance in this course. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on my ability to succeed academically. The lockdowns, the closure of universities, and the transition to online learning created unprecedented challenges that I, like many others, struggled to overcome. During the semester, I faced numerous obstacles that hampered my ability to complete my assignments and participate in class effectively. The sudden shift to remote learning meant that I had to adapt to a new learning environment, one that I was not used to. The lack of in-person interactions with my instructors and peers made it difficult to ask questions, seek clarification, and collaborate on projects. The technical difficulties that I encountered with online platforms also added to my stress and anxiety levels. As a result of these challenges, I was not able to devote as much time to this course as I would have liked.
