Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello:

My name is Baicun Wu, student number is 20304715. This petition is for drop two courses I failed. And I hope to take 1-2 more courses during the summer semester to make up for my grades. I submitted an academic Petition on April 15th. And you agreed to my request to drop Chem112 course on May 1st. Firstly, thank you very much for believing in my experience, which indeed had a very negative impact on my first semester. Then I will expound the reasons for the above request.

Firstly, there are two courses that did not have a pass this semester. I explained the reason in the academic Petition on April 15th. I encountered telecommunications fraud in January of this year, and the fraudster asked me to cooperate with the investigation in the name of the police. I believe in their words, and they also control my every move. They ordered me to report every action I took, which caused me to miss out on a lot of assignments. They also monitored me 24/7 through a video conferencing software called Skype, which caused some damage to my computer during nearly three months of operation. Because they made me obediently cooperate with the investigation on the grounds of forcibly sending me back to my country. This has made my mind very depressed over the past three months, sleeping under surveillance every day and worrying about my future.

On April 1st of this year, the fraudster asked me to pay a deposit of millions of RMB on the grounds that my investigation is currently unable to clarify my crime. And he incited me to deceive my parents and gave me an email template, asking me to fake an email after Queens' email. Using queens as an excuse to demand money from my parents. This incident completely confused me, and I took advantage of them not paying attention and asked my friend to use his phone to search for relevant cases. Sure enough, I found similar fraud cases online. I only realized at that time that I had encountered telecommunications fraud. I reported this matter to the Chinese Embassy in Toronto and they suggested that I cut off all contact with the fraudster. I followed suit, and now they haven't caused me any trouble, but they still receive scam calls from time to time, but now I can distinguish it.

I was happy in the restoration of freedom for not two days, and I had to face a very real problem, which was the severely affected grades this semester. In the first semester, I chose a lot of science courses, and I wanted to focus on biology as my goal. But after a semester of study, I found that I am not suitable for science courses at all. After considering myself, I planned to target Environment Studies in the second semester, but encountered telecommunications fraud, which resulted in a very poor academic year for me. That was my first email to an academic advisor, and Ms. Daralyn Auld's suggestion was to write an academic petition for you. Thank you very much for agreeing to my request., But I have to say that I am too confident myself. The remaining two courses do not rely on a final exam to recover all the scores, and it is not realistic to review all the content of the three courses within a month. This is the result of my misjudgment once again. My GPA is currently only 0.6, which is really too low. But this semester there were things beyond my control (telecommunications fraud), and I was very unwilling, so I once again sent an email to Ms. Daralyn Auld, an academic advisor. She would like to write an academic Petition for you regarding one of her matters. This is what I am writing now.

I graduated from Queens School of English and then entered the Queens Faculty of Art and Science through my own efforts. It has been two years since I returned to China. My parents sent me to Canada and I couldn't even speak English well on that time. With a worried heart, my parents really hoped that I would go back and meet them. But this semester's experience and current grades make it difficult for me to face them. I hope to take one or two courses during the summer vacation to make up for my score. When I logged into Solus, I realized that I couldn't choose courses. If it's because my GPA is too low, I hope you can give me a chance to make up for the bad situation of the previous academic year from now on.
