Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am appealing to enrol in PHGY216 past the enrolment deadline.
Due to poor mental health, I failed PHGY216 in Winter 2023. This is a result of missing most of the weekly discussion posts, several assignments, and doing poorly on the midterm exam. However, I felt confident when writing my final exam as I was able to adequately prepare for it thanks to my mental health improving. Unfortunately, the damage to my grades had been done.
I had hoped that my performance on my final exam would be enough to help me pass the course, but it wasn't until my final grade was released that I found out that I had failed. This came after the enrolment deadline so I could not enrol in the course through SOLUS anymore.
Even if I start PHGY216 late, I believe that I can do well in the course. Since I have learnt the content before, I will have an easier time understanding and remembering the material and I am also familiar with the assignments. I am also only enrolled in one other course for the summer term, so I would be able to dedicate more energy and time to this course than during the normal school term.
Finally, I do not wish to take PHGY216 at a later time because there are other courses that I would like to take that are exclusively offered during the Winter term.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I plan to take better care of my mental health in order to lessen its impact on my studies by spending more time with friends and family, exercising more often, and journalling. If my mental health does take a downward turn even with these preventative measures, I will seek outside help from a counsellor.
In terms of my academics, I will set weekly reminders to complete the discussion boards so I do not miss out on these marks. I will also use the academic assignment planner to help me manage my time and set realistic goals for the assignments. Finally, I will spend time everyday to review and strengthen my knowledge of PHGY216 module content and post on the discussion boards if I require help.
