Petition Letter

Petition Letter: The assignment instructions were often unclear or misleading, and there was a disconnect between the way the expectations were being delivered by the Professor and the way assignments were graded. I am a QSAS accommodated student, and I had to advocate to have my accommodations honoured throughout the course.

I received a very low mark early in the semester and asked the professor and my TA for more specific feedback, as the feedback I was provided for a D- (a grade I have never seen in my four years at Queen??s) was only two sentences long. My email did not receive a response for nearly two weeks, and I had to reach out to my QSAS advisor to help me advocate for myself. I asked if I could meet with either the TA or professor via Teams or Zoom to discuss the mark, and my request was never acknowledged or fulfilled.

After some back and forth, my accommodations were honoured, bringing my D- to a D+. However, no further feedback was given to me upon my request for more specific assignment clarification. I do not feel as though the mark I received reflects the work I put into the assignment based on the instructions I was given to complete it.
