Petition Letter
Petition Letter: The reason for this petition is to be added to the CISC 121 summer course. I had taken the course during the winter term and thought I had done well during the final exam. Upon receiving my final exam grade about a week ago I realized the grade was much lower than I expected. After this grade I took some time to talk to my family as well as many academic advisors and PASS advisors to decide on the plan to take for next year. Recently we decided the best plan is to do a Bachelor of Science in Statistics. Even though CISC 121 is not required for this degree plan, I hope to redo the course, especially since I have signed up for CISC 124 later in the summer. It is important that I complete these courses as I plan on minoring in Computing after my Second Year. After reflecting upon my winter semester I realized I had many problems with visualizing the way computers would interpret code that I had written on paper. I had done well in CISC 101 (ending with an A in the course), as all assessments were done on computers, and all the assignments in CISC 121 ending with a 84 in the assignments section. Throughout the summer I have been working towards fixing this visualization problem, I believe I can now retake the exam and course and end with a much better grade.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I am very passionate about computing, as I see myself integrating computing into any of my future career paths. Although my first attempt on the exam didn??t go as I had hoped I have reflected on my last term and found strategies to help myself do better in the course. These strategies include spending more time studying, attending lectures, as well as fixing my problems with visualization.
