Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am reaching out to you today to appeal my required withdrawal. However, I apologize for the limited information I can currently provide as I am currently out of the country and am unable to access my usual logins due to verification problems. Because I can not use my phone number to verify right now, Outlook is the only school resource I have access to as I was already logged in through my mobile device previously. Over the past two semesters, I have come to a realization that I am not passionate about life sciences. As a result, I have been actively seeking a transfer to a different program. My current academic pursuit has taken a toll on my mental well-being, which has led to subpar academic and physical performance. Receiving the required withdrawal letter triggered a panic attack, highlighting the extent of my distress. Through Ventus, I have documentation to support my appeal, and I am also prepared to gather additional necessary evidence. However, considering my circumstances abroad, I request an extension of the initial fifteen-day deadline for submitting my documentation and appeal. Only on my return home on June 6th can I compile all the required information and can send it separately later on through email or any other method. I understand that time is of the essence, and I ask for a few extra days, acknowledging the days I have missed due to being overseas, to ensure I can present everything needed to waive this appeal. In my earnest attempts to explore alternative options, I have made persistent efforts to secure an appointment with my advisors, despite my repeated attempts to book but to no avail. My goal in appealing the withdrawal letter is to explore the possibility of dropping specific courses in which I may have struggled, thereby improving my GPA. This would allow me to pursue an alternative program or consider a lighter course load that aligns better with my interests and abilities. I will also seek more help from medical professionals to further better my mental health in order to improve my academic performance. However, if I am able to study something of my interest, maintaining my grades should be less challenging. Due to personal circumstances, taking a year off from my studies is not viable. Additionally, I am bound by a lease agreement that cannot be quickly terminated due to the policies and restrictions imposed by the landlord. I am prepared to provide any necessary information and supporting documentation to strengthen my appeal. Please consider my situation.
