Appeal Grounds Details: Dear Board of Appeal Decisions,
I am writing this letter to you to please reconsider your decision in me withdrawing from Queens for a year. This decision means everything to me, which is why I'm emailing you to please understand and reconsider your decision. During the school year things were going well for me, till towards the end of first semester when I unfortunately lost a very close family member. In response of dean 's decision, he was aware that my circumstances were hard and things were rough for me. He mentioned that I should have dropped my classes for the winter term before the deadline if I felt such a strong grief.. For one I find it very harsh that the dean would even say that. School was the only thing distracting me from mourning and yes my grades were not the best in the end but I needed to stay and try to do school instead of going home and letting my mental health take me. The grades i reccived and the place i was at during that time is not an accurate representation of me as a student. At the time I was unaware of all the help access and support access I could get from queens, which yes is my responsibility to find out what I can do to help me but ultimately I just wanted to be in school and try to continue to keep my mind off things. I am now in a way better state and to be withdrawn for a year because of not dropping classes in time is truly not an ideal situation for anyone and I don't want to be in that situation. I understand the importance of academic success and maintaining the recommended Gpa But at the time I truly was going through it and I thought I could manage to continue classes in the winter term but ultimately i was’t. I am now in a way better place and I know and am aware of the help I can get, I also now know what to do and exactly what I want to accomplish at queens. I am also funded by Osap, if i take a year off i won't be able to continue in general as a queens university student as it is harder to get funded again when being withdrawn. Please if you could reconsider this decision it would mean anything to me as school is all i have for myself and i really really need this. It was a really hard time for me and I know I could have done things a lot differently but I now have learned from my actions and seriousness of not seeking help and getting advice from even academic advisors. Now I know better and I really want this chance to show you that I deserve to be at Queens university.
