Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am requesting that my grades in the following courses: GPHY 102 and MATH 121 be converted from letter grades to ??Credit Standing? in order to increase my current GPA from 1.89 so that I can maintain my academic standing and position in the Honours Bachelor of Science - Environmental Science - Program
My mother was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer in July of 2022. Over the course of the 2022-2023 academic year, my mother underwent three major operations and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. The stress associated with my mother??s health negatively impacted my ability to focus on my studies. Unfortunately, rather than seeking help from student services during the school year, I tried to handle it all myself. This resulted in poor academic performance across all of my courses, but these courses in particular.
Since coming home for the summer, I have seen a psychologist and plan to continue to seek regular help during the school year to help manage my stress and anxiety.
Additionally, I plan on working more closely with Deb Bruce at Student Accessibility Services to improve my study and planning skills.
Thank you very much for your consideration. Please let me know if you need any additional information.
