Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I am writing to petition to have my withdraw waived. Following this appeal, I will include documentation from a professional, which will provide everything in detail.
I have decided to appeal because I truly believe this is what is best for me and my future going forward. It is obvious that my academic performance has not been one to fit standards, however, I have had extenuating circumstances that have impacted this immensely. I have had many chances to take time off, but the reason why I haven't is because I know this is something I can do with every fibre of my being.
I understand this is hard decision, but I am a person that does not lack determination, perseverance, and intuition. My intuition has always told me to push and push - this is no exception. I do not take my academic lightly, this is something I will treat extremely seriously and I know wholeheartedly that I can and have already jumped over this hurdle in my life.
My life has not been without its struggles and adversities, but those adversities I have tackled head on and not allowed myself to falter. Having my petition granted, it would mean the world to me because it would mean I would work even harder, but with much more clarity than I've ever had before.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my appeal.

Sincerely,
Abbigail Jacobs

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Dear Jenn Stephenson, the Associate Dean,

My academic plan is one that I can ensure I will put in everything that I have to improve my academic standing here at Queen's University. With everything I went through, it was terrifying to reach out to figures that could help me. with the self work I have done, it has helped me to see that reaching out is not a scary thing, it only benefits me and ensures that I am doing everything correctly.
I have been working with my therapist for almost 2 years and I plan on continuing to meet with her every 2 weeks to once a month - money is something that does not come easily to come, therefore I have to space out my meetings. My future plans will entail of monthly meetings with an academic advisor to make sure I am on the right track, and self-discipline. Recently, I have gotten involved with the school community, specifically MUSE magazine. This will help me significantly because it serves me with a purpose outside of my academics and I truly believe that this will benefit me so much with my school work.
I am fully aware that this will not come without hardworking, but it is hard work I am not scared of and I have never been more ready to deal with. Throughout my years here, I developed unhealthy habits - which lead me to reaching out to a psychologist to help me. This made my habits become healthy and ones I could turn into the better. I believe I have worked on myself so much that I am finally at a strong enough place to complete everything to the high-standards I set myself to and what got me into Queen's in the first place.
I have already been and continue to be in contact with an academic advisor, and she said that once I submit this appeal, she will help me with my academics and be there to assist me through it all. I am genuinely very excited to return to campus to make this year something I am proud of.
Within my letter, my therapist spoke about me not dropping my failed courses by the academic deadline. In the letter she goes into detail on why this was, but my first step is getting appeal for dropping all the failed course on my transcript. This will push me farther than ever before.
I have had many opportunities to take time off, but it is something I know will do more harm than good. I have always chosen persevere - this year is no different except that perseverance will be stronger than ever.
I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to appeal with withdraw as I feel like it is the absolute best option for me.
Your time and consideration is greatly appreciate.

Kind Regards,

Abbigail Jacobs
