Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to appeal the one-year sanction / withdrawal imposed on my academic record for the previous academic year. I understand the severity of my academic performance during that period and the consequences it carries. However, I would like to provide an explanation for my subpar performance and humbly request the removal of the one-year sanction from my university record.

During the previous academic year, I encountered a series of unfortunate circumstances that severely impacted my ability to focus on my studies. I would like to elaborate on these challenges in the hope that you will consider the extenuating circumstances that led to my academic struggles.

I encountered health issues during that time, which necessitated frequent medical appointments, treatments, and medication adjustments. The resulting physical and mental strain greatly hindered my ability to perform at my full potential academically. I have attached the form that I received from the concerned department during that period, and I believe it will give you a better understanding of the circumstances during the transition from Fall to Winter Term. Being home all day due to health issues twice during the transition time period during the last weeks of Fall term and starting weeks of Winter term really led me back, and isolated.I was not even able to go to school, work, not able to interact with anyone, that led me to over think and procrastinate, prioritize finances over work.

Due to the aforementioned personal and health issues, I was unable to seek the necessary support systems available on campus. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the resources and assistance provided by the university until it was too late to take advantage of them. Being all alone here in this country, and having no one to talk with had led to me to develop a personality where my interaction and communication skills were hurt the most. Having no one to talk with in school and home are leading me to overthink and lack of financial resouces combined are not allowing to to make wise decisions. I am not sure if you access to the grades of quizes and assignments of these courses. For instance, CISC 204 my performance in the beginning 4 -5 weeks of the semester were remarkable, as I was achieving almost 90-100% but it just always when I’m in the middle stages, when problems like on going expenditures come in and look for work and them ultimately lack interest in school. Otherwise, I don’t think courses are that hard, I have now gone through these courses for some time and I’m confident if things go accordingly, having interaction with other students, self-confidence, financial stability which I am working on this summer so I can properly focus for the eight months of study would really help me to overcome.

The previous academic year marked a transition period for me, as I adjusted to the rigors and expectations of university-level education. Coming from a different educational system or background, I faced challenges in adapting to the new academic environment, which affected my performance. Though my background is from a different country, but just for your reference I stood first (97.8%) in the provincial high school exams. Though I have been here for a while now, it has not been easy to adjust in a new environment where fellow students preferences, and cultures have been quite different. However, I have now gained a better understanding of the university's academic requirements but I have been lacking with the interaction skills.

Some courses I took last year presented significant challenges due to the lack of clarity in course materials, instructions, or grading criteria. This ambiguity made it difficult for me to grasp the course concepts and perform to the best of my abilities. I believe that with clearer guidance and improved communication, I will be able to excel in those courses and contribute positively to my academic journey. And again I know it’s a loop hole from my end but it is out of my control at this stage to develop connections in school as this isolation has really really led me back. Being all alone, working on the course material has been really tough as you are all by yourself.

I fully acknowledge my responsibility for my academic performance and understand the importance of maintaining a satisfactory record. I assure you that I have taken proactive steps to address the challenges that contributed to my previous academic struggles. I have sought counseling to manage my personal and mental health issues, and I am now in a significantly better position to devote my energy and focus to my studies.

I humbly request the administration to reconsider the one-year sanction imposed upon me. Removing this sanction will allow me to continue my academic journey without any unnecessary interruptions and will provide me with the opportunity to demonstrate my true potential. I am confident that with the support and guidance of the university, I will be able to achieve the academic excellence I strive for.

I understand that the university upholds high academic standards, and I am committed to meeting and exceeding those expectations moving forward. With this appeal, I hope to demonstrate my genuine desire to learn and grow within this academic institution, while overcoming the challenges that hindered my progress last year.

Being the first and only child in the family attending a university has been quite overwhelming and isolated and I kindly request an opportunity to discuss my situation further in person or over the phone, if necessary. I appreciate your attention to this matter and sincerely hope that you will give my appeal due consideration. Thank you for your time and understanding.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to present my academic plan for the upcoming year in order to demonstrate my commitment to academic success and to request your support in overcoming the challenges I faced in the previous year. I am determined to improve my performance and make significant progress in my studies.

I have set clear and realistic academic goals for the upcoming year. These goals include actively participating in class discussions, completing assignments on time, and seeking opportunities for academic enrichment outside the classroom. Though these goals can only be achieved with the collaboration from other departments of the university where I will be actively participating in different events, club participations, as I have talked with them also. I am planning on taking CISC 124 again, though I got A+ in it but I personally feel If I take this course again, it will create a strong base for CISC 124 that I had been failing. Though it was a good grade but it was quite a while ago. I am planning to start from here and then in Fall I’m planning on taking CISC 124, 204 and CISC 203 with POLS 110. I believe POLS 110 was not a hard course, it was lack of participation from my end that led me fail and again lack of connections and resources were the main cause of it. Though it is kind of hard to explain and elaborate, but I do have a full fledged schedule of the courses, mind map and course selection that I explained earlier to excel. All I need is interaction with the same course students so in case if i need any help I have someone to talk with, and work with . I have learned from my previous experience and understand the importance of effective time management. I will develop a detailed schedule that allocates dedicated time for studying, attending classes, completing assignments, and engaging in extracurricular activities. By adhering to a well-structured routine, I will ensure that I have ample time for coursework while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I am planning to take a break from work during the study period so I can actually just focus on my studies. I now recognize the various support services offered by the university, and I plan to utilize them effectively. I will seek guidance from academic advisors to select courses that align with my strengths and interests while challenging me to grow academically. Additionally, I will make use of tutoring services, writing centers, and study groups to enhance my understanding of course material and improve my academic performance. To maximize my learning experience, I will actively participate in class discussions, ask questions, and seek clarification whenever needed. I understand that active engagement fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter and allows for a more collaborative learning environment. By actively participating, I will demonstrate my commitment to academic growth and contribute to a vibrant classroom. I will actively engage with fellow students and faculty members to build a supportive network. I plan to join relevant academic clubs and organizations where I can collaborate with like-minded individuals and benefit from their experiences. Establishing connections with faculty members will enable me to seek guidance and mentorship, further enhancing my academic journey.

I will regularly assess my academic progress by reviewing my performance, seeking feedback from professors, and reflecting on my strengths and areas for improvement. Through self-reflection and self-evaluation, I will identify strategies that work best for me and make necessary adjustments to enhance my learning process continually.

I sincerely request your support in implementing this academic plan and overcoming the obstacles that hindered my progress in the previous year. I am determined to prove my capabilities and showcase my true potential. With your assistance, I am confident that I will demonstrate significant improvement in my academic performance in the upcoming year.

I am grateful for the opportunity to present my academic plan and request your consideration. I am open to any further suggestions or guidance you may have to help me succeed in my academic endeavors. Thank you for your time and understanding. Please give me a chance.
