Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this petition letter to request permission to drop PSYC 100 from my academic schedule for the current semester at Queens University. I am enrolled as a 2022/2023 student in the Global Development Online Program. I have been communicating with the Accommodations and Learning Management Systems Assistant Tara Karasewich for the Psychology program and my ASA Caroline Teske about my concerns regarding this course and my overall mental health.
I am struggling with mental health issues that significantly impact my ability to fulfill the academic requirements of this course. Despite this being a consistent issue throughout my school year, I have managed to achieve good grades in all of my courses; however, for this particular course, I do feel that I have to prioritize my mental health since my symptoms are progressively worsening.
I am deeply committed to my education; however, my mental health has deteriorated to the point where it hinders my ability to focus, concentrate, and complete assignments and exams to the best of my abilities. This has resulted in a decline in my academic performance. I initially enrolled in this course hoping to succeed, but it has become apparent that my condition necessitates prioritizing my well-being over completing the course. I sincerely hope that I can do this without experiencing any financial penalties.
I have received professional guidance from my therapist to take steps to alleviate the stressors contributing to my current condition. I firmly believe reducing my academic workload will aid in my recovery process, and I hope to regain stability for the fall term.
I kindly request your understanding and approval to drop PSYC 100 from my academic schedule and to receive a full refund to ensure that I am not penalized by OSAP. I genuinely wish I could continue with this course, but unfortunately, my health concerns make it impossible for me to do so.
I understand the deadline for dropping courses without financial penalty has already passed. However, I am hopeful that an exception can be made in my case due to the extenuating circumstances surrounding my mental health. I am more than willing to provide any necessary documentation, such as letters from my therapist or doctor, to support my petition.
If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at 22rcjn@queensu.ca or 647.818.2584. I sincerely hope for a positive resolution to this matter.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my request.
