Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I hope you had a great day. My name is Jingyi Huang, and my student number is 20219217. In this letter, I would like to explain the reasons for the delay in submission. Currently, I am in China, where there is a 12-hour time difference. Therefore, when the announcement was delivered in the evening of May 23rd, I saw it in the morning of May 24th. Upon receiving the letter stating that I must withdraw for one year, I immediately emailed my academic advisor, Vanessa McCourt. Unfortunately, she was out of the office until May 26th. Vanessa suggested that I apply for an appeal and provided me with a link to submit the necessary letter and documents. During this time, I also reached out to Dr. Li, a Chinese-speaking professor whom I mentioned in my previous petition letter. Dr. Li is also residing in Canada, so I had a limited amount of time to speak with him. Dr. Li assisted me in analyzing my situation and advised me to conduct research to plan my upcoming courses and set long-term goals. Additionally, on June 2nd, I had a 10-minute presentation for my summer course, ANAT 100. Therefore, I focused on gathering academic plan materials and preparing presentation materials during this period. On June 4th, I went to a dental clinic in Beijing to have my wisdom tooth extracted. This appointment was already scheduled before I received information about my academic standing. Unfortunately, I developed a fever three hours after the procedure and was subsequently hospitalized. It took me until the 17th to fully recover. During this time, I had a syringe stuck in the back of my hand. The documents containing the clinical diagnosis and advice from doctors are attached as supporting documents. Additionally, as I did not want to miss a 10% exam for ANAT 100, I requested my parents' assistance to apply for long-term academic consideration on my behalf on June 8th, and the application number is 45365. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please let me know if you require any further information.
Sincerely, Jingyi
