Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean (Academic),
I am requesting that I be allowed to drop CLST 205 after the drop deadline due to a severe collapse in my mental health which has ruined my ability to perform academically. I have always suffered from depression and anxiety and was recently diagnosed with ADD; my third year was incredibly difficult and stressful for a variety of reasons, including those three psychological factors. Throughout the year and the summer semester, I regularly attended counselling sessions through Queen’s Student Wellness Services and—as my academics began to suffer—reduced my course load down to this class alone to try and maintain good academic performance.
My attempts to deal with my extenuating circumstances proved insufficient and in mid-June, I suffered from the aforementioned collapse in my mental health. As a consequence, I was severely depressed and could not function for much of the past month.
Thank you for your time,
Dillon A. J. Chicoski
