Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Arts/Sci,

I am writing to petition for AG/CR standing in my GNDS 125 course, as well as Late Drop my BCHM 316, and BCHM 441 courses from last academic year.

In winter 2022 I met with my OT at student wellness and I ended up going on medical leave due to physical and mental health issues. I was hoping to remain on leave for fall 2022 but when I checked SOLAS it showed that I was registered for a course so I thought that my medical leave was over. I now know that this was showing due to block enrollment and not that my leave was finished early. I tried to engage in my courses, but by winter 2023 I realized that I was still very unwell. I met again with my OT and thought that another medical leave was issued, which is why I didn’t complete my course work. I asked my BCHM 316 prof and my GNDS prof if they would accept an Incomplete and allow me more time to work on them. My BCHM prof agreed, but I never heard back from my GNDS 125 prof. I found out recently that the Incomplete was not approved and I received a D. I did not know that this was not approved and I only had one more assignment to complete. I am currently still unwell and I do not think that completing any course work now would be a good representation of my skills and abilities.

My OT is no longer at student wellness, and I am working with Laurie to help figure everything out. Laurie has spoken with Haley in Art/Sci and I am hoping that the request for late drop of BCHM 316, and 441, and the petition for AG/CR in GNDS 125 can be considered.
