Petition Letter: Dear Professor,

I'm Jingwen Wang from BA. My student number is 20344535. I petitioned to drop FILM 260 course past the deadline.

In the second week of this course, my grandmother got bedsores, my mom and I had to rush over from home every day to take care of my grandmother's meals and change her medication. Because my grandmother had a stroke, she was unable to eat or go to the bathroom on her own, and my mom needed to go to work, so I had to be with her at all times during the day. I thought I would be able to work on my course in the evenings, but I was so exhausted, and sometimes I needed to take care of my grandmother at night, lack of time and sleep caused me to miss a lot of homework. This is also the reason I forgot and missed the deadline for drop the course. And I provide my grandmother's medical case in my professional letter.

For the final big assignment of this course, I had thought I could make it up after I arrived in Canada. But I just arrived in Canada in the last few days and still need to pack my luggage and things related to renting the apartment, I was severely sleep deprived and mentally deficient from worrying about my grandmother and adjusting to jet lag. So now I do not think I have enough time or energy to continue to complete the course and get credit for it. I contacted the professor of the course and agreed that petitioning to drop the course past the deadline is the best option right now.
