- The Associate Dean's decision did not follow the rules of procedural fairness. A breach of procedural fairness includes such things as the Associate Dean failed to:
- Make a reasonable decision in your appeal. A “reasonable” decision is one that is based on evidence, thought out and supported by facts and logical inferences from the facts. To be reasonable, the decision must contain adequate reasons for the conclusions.
Appeal Grounds Details: Dear Board of Studies,
I am respectfully appealing the Associate Dean’s decision to deny my request to drop STAT268 (F22) past the
academic deadline, on the grounds that the decision did not subscribe to rules of procedural fairness. Specifically, I feel that the Associate Dean failed to make a “reasonable decision” in their response, that is, the decision for the
petition is not completely “based on evidence, thought out and supported by facts and logical inferences from the
facts,” as stated in relevant Faculty of Arts and Science guidelines on the appeals process. For complete clarity, as is the case for any Board of Studies appeal, the purpose of this letter is to explain why I believe the Associate Dean’s decision was not reasonable based on the evidence presented before them, referencing new information and evidence from which the Associate Dean may consider revising the original decision.

I plan to submit additional documentation at a later date: Although I noted that my letters from Student Wellness Services would arrive today, there is some delay with regard to these documents. The new anticipated submission date for these letters is Monday, October 2nd, 2023.
