Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: In March, a family situation occurred that dramatically impacted my daily life and academic performance. My niece, whom I am a caregiver to, was abruptly removed from our care without consent. This resulted in legal proceedings lasting well over a month. This demanded most of my time and as a result, left me unable to successfully complete my academics in a timely manner.

Additionally, this situation caused my mental health to rapidly deteriorate. I was struggling with severe depression daily, which was an additional factor to my inability to complete my academics.

My niece is back in our care now, having normal, regular contact with her. In May, I began weekly/bi-weekly therapy to manage and improve my mental health and have started taking medication for my depression. I have every intention of continuing therapy throughout the new school year and taking every necessary step to maintain my mental health to ensure a successful semester.
