Petition Letter: Dear The Associate Dean Academic,
In December, 2022, during exam season at Queen’s University, I had a manic and psychotic episode which resulted in my admittance for one months time at Kingston General Hospital. I was soon thereafter diagnosed with Bipolar l and recommended to take a leave of absence from the Nursing program for the following semester, advice which I followed. Due to this unforeseen psychiatric break I was not able to complete my Fall 2022 examinations. After six months of intensive mental health recovery at my home in Victoria, BC, I am now back at Queen’s able to complete the exams I had missed. My PSYC 251 final exam has now been written and Professor Kelley has requested we change the grade from a D- to an A-. For the reason that this course was taken prior to the previous term, I must request this petition for an extended Incomplete grade so that the grade change can be approved and posted to my transcript. I appreciate your assistance in this matter.
