Decision(s) Being Appealed: Waive the 21-day or one term deadline

Appeal Grounds

Appeals to the Board of Studies must include a letter based on one or more of the Grounds for Appeal (Appeal Regulation 3.4). What are the grounds you are basing your appeal on?
  • The Associate Dean's decision did not follow the rules of procedural fairness. A breach of procedural fairness includes such things as the Associate Dean failed to:
    • Make a reasonable decision in your appeal. A “reasonable” decision is one that is based on evidence, thought out and supported by facts and logical inferences from the facts. To be reasonable, the decision must contain adequate reasons for the conclusions.
Appeal Grounds Details: I had gotten documentation for my petition but had not had the chance to submit it before a decision was made. I would like another chance to submit my petition to waive the deadline as I have everything I need this time and have provided proper evidence.

Appeal Letter

Appeal Letter: Hello, I am looking to appeal the previous decision to waive the 21-day deadline for my requirement to withdraw. In my original petition, I did not have the time to acquire proper documentation, however I have made sure to include it this time. In addition to this, my original letter discussed what had been affecting me during the school year, rather than during the specific time period.
Due to severe mental health issues, I was unable to meet the original deadline for the letter I had received. I have been dealing with depression and anxiety for a very long time throughout my life, and was feeling incredibly stressed about personal circumstances ongoing as well. These circumstances had a very strong impact on my day-to-day life, and I found that due to my mental illness combined with a large amount of stress, I was unable to actively address this issue. I am more than happy to discuss this in more detail if contacted, however a lot of my circumstances surrounding my mental health are private.
As I was dealing with a lot of stress, I found it hard to complete daily tasks due to feelings of depression, and this made me lose track of time. I have been seeing counselors regularly regarding my mental health both before and after this letter, and I will continue to do so. I have been actively trying to improve my mental condition and work towards getting my grades on track, and I would really like the chance to prove this. While my mental health did limit my ability to create my petition earlier, I have been actively improving.

Documentation

I plan to submit additional documentation at a later date: I will be submitting letters from multiple different counselors. If anything else is necessary I am more than happy to provide it.
