Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Due to circumstances out of my control, I was unable to enrol in the course before the deadline on the 18th of September. The first issue that prevented my enrollment is the policy of the university that pays my tuition. A review of my tuition records will confirm that the University of Carnegie Mellon pays my tuition due to my father's employment there. The university has been consistent with its payments however it requires proof of a full courseload in order to send the proper funds to the tuition department at Queens. During the first week of classes, I dropped a course yet was unable to pick up another course due to a block on my account, the block was placed because Carnegie Mellon had not yet paid my tuition, however, I was unable to the university to pay the tuition without picking up a course to replace the one I had dropped. Clearly, this is a conundrum I was unable to address on my own so I contacted the academic services department. I was told in order to lift the block I needed to get proof of a pending transaction including the date of payment, the amount the payment was made and my student number. I spent an extensive period of time trying to get the information required but due to the university being in another country, It was difficult to navigate through the many departments to gather all the information required. on the 19th of September, I went to the registers office to attempt to get the block lifted, the block was lifted after an examination of my records and an explanation of the circumstances preventing my tuition from being paid, yet now I was unable to enroll in the course myself due to the deadline being over. It is because of this I am appealing to enroll in the course, Constant communication and effort with both Queens University and Carnegie Mellon before the deadline to add courses still left me in a position where I was unable to enrol myself, until after the deadline had passed.
