Petition Letter

Petition Letter: My name is Kyle Retter and I am currently a second-year student enrolled in a PHIL major and a POLS minor. I currently have an open spot in my timetable and was referred to PHIL 206 by two friends who are currently enrolled and loving it. Science fiction has always been my favourite genre, I was disappointed to see that during the summer when I attempted to get this course that it was full. Now that I have a spot open in my timetable and I see the class has 1 seat open with no scheduling issues on my timetable, it seemed like the perfect time to try and join. I would very much appreciate this opportunity as it would allow me to take a course I am truly interested in. If approved I will spend the weekend at Stauffer properly catching up on course content with the help of my friends enrolled in the class.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Kyle Retter

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Given that I am slightly behind the deadline I will need to catch up on some of the course content I have missed. I plan on doing this effectively through the following actions.

Week 1: Assessment and Organization
Review the Syllabus: Carefully read the course syllabus to understand the topics, assignments, due dates, and grading criteria.
Gather Missed Materials: Obtain lecture notes, PowerPoint slides, reading assignments, and any recorded lectures or class materials from the first week.
Assess Current Knowledge: Identify what I already know about the course content and where I might need extra focus.
Readings: Catch up on all the readings and textbook chapters from the first week. Take notes and highlight key concepts.
Lecture Review: Go through the lecture notes and PowerPoint slides for the first week. Take notes and ensure you understand the main concepts
