Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I have been going back and forth for 2 weeks now trying to figure out my academic course plan for this year. I have been in contact with the Academic Petition Office since yesterday. They withdrew my petition # 10981 and told me to submit a new new one listing each course, the class #, and the instructor. This is the third petition I submit.
Below are the classes I wish to be enrolled in.
ECON 222 Macroeconomic Theory I, Lecture - 3393, B. Dorval
ECON 255 Intro Mathematical Economics, Lecture - 3395, J. Zabojnik
ECON 290 Environment Econ & Assessment, Lecture 3409, N. Zahur
LAW 201 Introduction to Canadian Law, Lecture - 2034, H. Choquette
MUSC 171 Social History Popular Music, Lecture - 4062, K. Pegley
Here's a little background on my situation. I was a part-time student my first year due to a mix up with my admissions offer. I unknowingly accepted to go study abroad at the Bader Campus. When I realized, I could only be admitted to the Kingston Campus as a part-time student for my first year in hopes of becoming a full-time student in Fall 2023. The transition from part-time to full-time was and still remains very unclear. I reached out to Queens throughout the summer multiple times in order to figure out my situation. Every time I called, I got transferred to another department and nobody had any answers for me. Sometimes, the call would just end and this cycle repeated multiple times. Long story short, I did not find out I got in full-time until I went to Dunning Hall and spoke to the reception. The lady at the front desk viewed my file and told me it looked like I got in full-time on her end, however, I was only able to add 3 classes in my Solus.
As I was part-time my first year, I planned out my course selection plan for the remaining 4 years, in hopes of graduating on track. My classes remain in my shopping cart since the summer because there was a hold on my account (from a summer class payment). There was a miscommunication with my father who helps me with my financials. I thought the hold would go away after 3-5 business days but it did not. I returned to Gordon Hall to get the hold removed from my account but my payment could not be found. I have the proof of payment from my dad now. I have been proactively trying to fix this situation. I have met with an academic advisor, I have been to Dunning and Gordon Hall countless times. At first, my situation had to do with the hold on my account, however, now I am writing this petition to enroll in classes passed the deadline. I know this is a trickly situation with lots going on. I just really need help. I wish to major in Economics. My cumulative GPA last year was a 3.17. I took both required courses to major in Economics (MATH126, ECON 110A, ECON110B) while I was a part-time student my first year.
I know classes have started and it is considered late to enroll in new classes now. However, I have been to ALL the classes I wish to be enrolled in since the beginning with a friend who I came up with my academic plan with. I am caught up on the material and I know what is going on.
I am just not technically enrolled in them, therefore, I do not have access to my classes on Onq. I wish to schedule a meeting or speak with someone who can help me with my situation as soon as possible. This has been dragged on for so long because I have been going back and forth ever since I have gotten to school and I would really appreciate somebody's help.
I am looking forward to fixing these issues as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Avery Raymond
