Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello, my name is Victoria Ejsmont, and I am submitting a petition to hopefully be allowed to join FREN 150. I was previously not able to enroll in classes because of a family emergency occurring in Greece during the floods. On September 4, Storm Daniel occurred and was the deadliest tropical cyclone in Mediterranean history. September 6th is when I arrived in Greece to help my family, who live in Greece. I was able to depart Greece on September 20th. I’ve attached a copy of my plane ticket to support this. After returning from Greece, I planned a session with an academic advisor to see how to get back on track.
After returning from Greece, I was in a not-at-fault car accident where another vehicle turned into me as I was going straight. I wasn’t able to see the advisor right away because of that. This delayed my proposal, sadly. I’ve attached a page from car insurance, as I do not have access to the police report at this time yet.
Both of these events were life circumstances that were out of my control. I wished to enroll in classes sooner, and when that was no longer possible, I wished to submit my petition as soon as possible. I am hoping that rather than take on a full course load, I am able to take the FREN 150 course to begin a minor in French and get back on track with my studies this fall.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I am confident in my ability to thrive in this class due to taking French immersion throughout school. With it being one course, which is yearly rather than ending in the middle of the year, I believe this will also help me be successful in this course. In addition to this, before beginning at Queen’s University this year, I have two prior years of study at the University of Toronto, where I am waiting for my previous credits to be assessed. My two previous years of study have made me confident in my time management skills and ability to strongly focus and get work done efficiently and skillfully. Alongside this, my main interpersonal relationship requires that I speak in French, as their family only understands French and lives in Quebec. This means I visit Quebec often and speak French on a regular basis. This immersed level of French in my personal life, combined with my studies from previous years, makes me confident I’d adjust well and do well in the requested FREN 150 course.
I am a resilient individual who has faced adversities, from upbringing to now, which means I do not give up. I set goals for myself in my courses and ensure that I achieve them through good study habits. I feel strongly about my education and have the drive to work hard and ensure that work is done to not only the best of my capabilities but to meet or exceed the standards of the teaching instructor. Going forward I have physiotherapy appointments to support me as I get back on track academically.
Thank you for your time and hopeful consideration,
Victoria Ejsmont
