Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello, my name is Brandon St.Pierre and I am requesting an extension on an Incomplete. First I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my Petition Letter. I have been in contact with my Professor (Laura Cameron), who has been very helpful and generous, and has accepted my essay and wishes to proceed in completing my grade. I will attach everything regarding our outlook mails to hopefully provide better clarity or insights on this situation and the unfortunate circumstances. Essentially, I had completed and did the entire course as it was one that I enjoyed very much, this involved all weekly journal submissions, attendance submissions, the Podcast and wrote and finished my essay. Here is the first mail sent upon noticing:

Hello Professor Cameron,

     I recently paid off my tuition and noticed that I had failed the course and was wondering how as I had completed all of the course material, however upon reviewing the submitted assignments, attendance and podcast, I noticed that my essay had never been sent to you. It is extremely sad that I had worked very hard on a hectic semester while having great communication with you and TA Marley and completed my essay. I believe it must have not sent while I travelled to Japan early December, it never sent through while I was in Japan, I must have thought I submitted near after the November 30th email while it remained in my drafts. I spoke with an Academic advisor, and they essentially told me to reach out to you as it would be your decision whether you'd accept the late submission and edit the mark through an incomplete form. I totally understand if you do not accept it as it is my fault and there are no excuses. I am so sorry for such an unfortunate outcome as I really enjoyed the content and especially creating the podcast.

Great to hear Brandon. I remember you well — and yes, of course. Why let an email error spoil a transcript!

Please send it asap (I’ve got a hectic term which is why I’m emailing on a Sunday! :) ) — and we’ll go from there. Hopefully Admin will cooperate.

Hi Brandon

I was asking about the IN form and learned this:

The last day to change a grade for a fall term course is usually in April. Do you know if this student
submitted a request to the faculty office for an extension? You would have needed to approve it.

If you haven’t asked for an extension - you’ll need to do so.

After sending in the mail, we were going to proceed however we realized that I was required to submit an extension on the Incomplete. I am truly hoping we can work together and grant me this opportunity and allow my Professor to correct this. Thank you so very much for reading this and I really look forward to the response.
