Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Stephenson,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally request a late withdrawal from the course GLPH 281, which I am currently enrolled in for the Fall 2023 semester. I wish to explain the extenuating circumstances that have led to this request and seek your kind consideration.
Firstly, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the course content in GLPH 281. I have found the material to be both engaging and intellectually stimulating, and it was with great enthusiasm that I embarked on this academic journey. However, prior to the commencement of this semester, I underwent a significant surgical procedure. Despite my expectations for a manageable recovery, the process has proven unexpectedly challenging and has significantly impaired my physical and psychological well-being. This unforeseen complication has detrimentally affected my academic performance, leaving me unable to perform at my usual standard.
The decision to seek a late withdrawal was made with considerable thought and understanding of its seriousness, especially given that the deadline for course withdrawal has already passed. Nonetheless, I am compelled to pursue this course of action due to the exceptional nature of my circumstances, which are entirely beyond my control.
My request is further supported by Giselle Valarezo, the instructor of GLPH 281, who has been made aware of my situation and has kindly offered their support for this petition. I understand the implications of this request and assure you of my commitment to my academic responsibilities. This decision is solely driven by the current health challenges I am facing, which I am diligently working to overcome.
I respectfully request your understanding and assistance in this matter. Your support would greatly alleviate the stress of my current situation and allow me to focus on my recovery, with the intention of returning to my academic pursuits with renewed vigor as soon as possible.
