Petition Letter:
Dear Associate Dean,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally request an appeal for grades and academic records for some of the classes I took in the past two years at Queen's University. Due to a traumatic event in Oct 2021, I started to suffer from severe mental health challenges which led to a decline in all areas of my well-being and impaired my academic capabilities.

During the night of homecoming in 2021, I was out with friends at a party and had my drink unknowingly spiked which made me lose memory of my actions and whereabouts between 9pm at night to 1pm the next day. I woke up very disoriented in my Halloween costume in a park with two locals from Nappanee in the western part of Kingston without my keys and wallet. Unfortunately, this situation had triggered my first episode of psychosis which prevented me from attending class and completing assignments until final exams. At the time, I was living by myself and had no support system to reach out to as there was a wave of covid going around. In addition to this, all final exams were canceled on Dec 12th due to covid and were moved to January and I was unable to do them. This situation has led to severe depression and anxiety which still affect me to this day.

Over the past two years, I have struggled with severe mental health issues and multiple deaths in my family which significantly impacted my ability to perform my academic responsibilities.
