Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
Re: Petition to Waive deadline for response to the Request to Withdraw notification
Please receive this letter as my request to waive the 15-business day deadline for response to the Requirement to Withdraw from Queens for one year, effective 05/15/2023, that I received.
I spent the majority of the 2022-23 academic year incapacitated, with debilitating anxiety and panic attacks. I now have medical and counseling support, and have come to understand that in spring 2023 I was disassociated to the point I was not checking email or course work, and could not process the implications of my academic standing and did not comprehend how this would impact my next year and future. I was not in a position, emotionally or mentally, even to read the notification until after the effective date. I did not realize I had the option to appeal until recently, having gathered the right support to look at this with clear eyes. August 2023 I reached a point I could not hold it in any longer and began talking about it openly.
Now, as I am becoming more resourced, I am taking steps to recover from last year and set myself up for success. I would appreciate the opportunity to provide further information and plead my case, requesting consideration that I be permitted to re-register before one full year has passed. I will also speak to my 2022-23 academic year as it does not reflect what I know I am capable of.
Please find attached relevant documentation from my therapist and doctor. More detail and documentation will be provided when I am able to appeal the one-year requirement for withdrawal.
Thank you for your consideration.
