Petition Letter: ENG 200 Exam Deferral Petition Letter
This letter is regarding my request for a mid-year examination deferral in ENG200, as my mental health has been declining and preventing me from fully intaking the course material within the past couple of weeks. With my elevated depression and anxiety during this stressful time, I don’t foresee being able to mentally withstand the proper preparation I need to do in order to be successful for the mid-year examination in ENG 200. I have spoken in depth about this with my Professor Kelly McDevitt recently, and she agrees that an examination deferral would be highly beneficial considering my extenuating circumstances. Additionally, I’ve spoken to my Psychotherapist Max Monoogian, and they completely agree that this deferral would allow me to have the necessary time to prepare given my situation. I particularly enjoy this course and am passionate about securing this requirement for my major. I have just had to deal with a lot of unforeseen traumatic events that have been mentally debilitating, affecting my ability to prepare for this examination.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My Academic Plan going forward, is to regularly attend psychotherapy sessions that give me the coping strategies to prevent my mental illnesses from taking over, so I can focus on my academics without feeling distracted by my mental state. In the long run, this will allow me to feel less overwhelmed and work on my academic goals. Additionally, I plan to take the deferral period to solely focus on ENG 200 examination preparation in order to do the absolute best I can to do well in not only the course, but also in my degree.
