Petition Letter: Dear to whom this may concern,
My name is Brendan Rourke and I am currently in my third year of studies here at Queen's University, and over the past two years, my psychological health has been very detrimental to my studies and just my overall health. After dropping most of my classes last semester I have been doing everything in my power to build my routines and strengthen my mindset. Unfortunately, some things happened this year that were completely beyond my control and sent me into a downward spiral. I was not eating enough or exercising to take care of myself and just sleeping most of the time. I truly feel like I am working my hardest to help myself in every way I can. I started to see a therapist in person rather than online, whom I get along with much better, than my previous one. As well as I have also started to see my psychologist Dr. Julie Maggi much more often and started on a new anti-anxiety/depression medication. I know I wanted to be prepared for this current semester, but I was not. I have now reached a point where I truly had to take a break from my studies to make sure my mental and physical health were not at further risk. I truly believe the strides I've made over the last few weeks have been extremely influential in my progression going forward. I am very confident that come the new year I can be back taking an almost if not full courseload, in my student house with the most supportive guys I've truly ever gotten to know. Alongside the help of my parents, medical professionals, and housemates I truly believe I will make a big step forward.
Thank you for your time,
Brendan Rourke
