Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello, I wanted to submit this petition regarding my troubles during the course of COGS 100 due to unforeseen circumstances. I would not be able to pass the course even if I achieved a perfect score on the final. I was very ignorant and clueless about how the university systems worked for the first 6-7 weeks, which was one reason I did not achieve or perform to my ability. As a student striving to study for a master's degree, an F on my transcript would not be a good sight once the application comes around. I also believe cluelessness from a curious first year should not be affecting my future, and an F in this class would significantly harm my goals in the future. I understand that dropping a course at this stage is not standard practice, so I do not make this request lightly. However, given circumstances I have gone through and been given throughout this year, I believe allowing me to drop this course would be my saving factor and the appropriate course of action. This would open a gate for me to go on with my assessments and personal life issues more smoothly from now on. This course being dropped will be a huge learning moment. I commit myself to learning from this and taking wiser steps to ensure this does not occur in my future academic endeavors. I would appreciate any guidelines or alternatives and am willing to take the necessary actions.

Thank you for considering my request. I am available for a meeting to discuss this matter and provide any further information required.

Best,
Reza Nia
