Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: At the beginning of the Fall 2023 semester, I experienced a sexual assault on campus by another student which has directly impacted my academic performance. Due to the content included in GNDS 120, it has been especially hard to attend and complete work for this class as it is often triggering or re-traumatizing. The effects of my sexual assault and subsequently working to cope have included difficulty focusing, difficulty sleeping (going without sleep days at a time), paranoia, difficulty leaving my dorm room/attending class, difficulty staying on top of school work, flashbacks, anxiety, and panic attacks. I have experienced these symptoms starting the day of the incident, September 20th, 2023 and my symptoms have recently intensified as we are coming to the three month mark of the incident. I am currently working with KGH, Barb Lotan, and Terra Sweigard to get the help I need. I am currently pursuing an investigation through the school into the events and the perpetrator and am considering pressing charges legally. Due to this event and the symptoms I am experiencing I am requesting to drop GNDS 120.
