Petition Letter: This semester I have taken 6 courses, and same goes with next term in order to fulfill my degree requirements to graduate this coming spring, as I cannot afford to do the honours program and live/pay tuition in kingston for another year. Alongside the difficulties I struggled with to manage 6 courses, I dealt with a lot of hardship in my external life during this semester. As my father passed away at the age of ten and being an immigrant family from israel who was forced to leave as my father was arab and mother is jewish and the tension between the two caused a hard quality of life for our family, it has been ever so challenging within our family. When the war began in israel in october, my mother had been trapped in israel and my younger brother had been left alone at our home in toronto. as a result, I had been travelling back and fourth daily from kingston to toronto, and back, to take care of my younger brother. we have nobody here in canada, my older brother was forced to go back to serve for the IDF and as a result, I was not able to attend some classes this semester, and this really affected my learning and participation in certain courses. Alongside musc171, I was also on the verge of not passing LLCU200. I had been in contact with my professor who helped me get myself back on track, and I had managed to go from a 17% on the first midterm, to finishing the course with 85%,80, and 91% on all final midterms, exams, and tests. Music on the other hand I was not, I managed to still get above 60% on the three 20% tests we had, but fell very deep in regards to the final, which was weighted extremely heavy. the situation and circumstances I have had fallen on me this semester has greatly affected my grades, and the hardships i faced reflected my final grade in this course. I managed my very best to try to pass all my courses, but already being in a heavy course load, alongside trying to amend my grades, i still fell short to succeed in all. I truly cannot afford to do another semester due to one course, and am praying their is a way to forsee my hardship within this term, as the tension and conflict going on in my home country alongside having to step in for my family's sake has created many battles academically.
