Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to bring to your attention a matter that has significantly impacted my academic performance during the previous semester.

On June 25th of last year, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, and a suspected fatty tumor, which triggered severe psychological distress. Regrettably, the psychological burden arising from these health issues greatly interfered with my ability to focus on my studies, resulting in a failure to meet the requirements of the MUSC 171 course.

Understanding the implications of failing a course on my overall GPA, I am earnestly requesting an opportunity to withdraw from the aforementioned course.

Fortunately, through continuous self-care and the unwavering support of my family and friends, I have made significant strides in my recovery. I am confident that the challenges I faced during the previous semester will not recur, and I am committed to performing at my best academically moving forward.

I kindly request your understanding and consideration in granting me the opportunity to withdraw from the MUSC 171 course. Doing so would not only alleviate the negative impact on my GPA but also enable me to demonstrate my full potential in future coursework.
