Petition Letter: Excuse me, I am Yuyang Gao(20170204), and I took econ320 in winter 2023. I am very sorry that I cannot take the make-up exam for econ 320, which should have been held before 1/15. Could I apply for one more extension for the econ411 deferred final exam? However, due to some sudden changes in my family in December 2023, my parent's marital status has changed as well as my grandmother's health has turned for the worse. These caused my mental state to become very poor, and it was really difficult to carry on a normal life and concentrate. I feel that I really can't complete this exam in my current situation. I went through a series of blows during this time, and as a result, my mental health issues became more severe. Therefore, I am hoping that the faculty can extend the deadline for the make-up exam for this class until 2/3.
I have been in consistent communication with a counselor and have started seeking medication from a psychiatrist. I believe that with the help of medication, I can return to my normal mental state in a period, so I would like to apply for an extension and hope that I can get your approval. During this time, I will start taking medication, and I believe that the medication will help me get it under control by 2/30. I have contacted my advisor, and I can provide supporting documents from my mental counselor in the student wellness center later. I should apologize for the inconvenience I have caused you.
